Joe Negron Endorses Rooney

(Stuart, FL) – Former state Representative and Congressional candidate Joe Negron has endorsed Tom Rooney in the race for Florida’s 16th Congressional District.

I believe you represent the best opportunity for this community to complete the mission we began together nearly two years ago, said Joe Negron in a letter to the campaign. “I will be personally asking my several thousand friends, supporters and contributors in all eight counties to now join your team in what will be a nationally significant race. I believe you have solid conservative instincts and in Congress would be willing to stand steadfastly for your principles, even if that meant respectfully disagreeing with your Party from time to time.”

Joe Negron served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2000 to 2006. During his time in the state legislature Joe was the Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. Joe was also a Congressional candidate in the 2006 race for the 16th District.

I am extremely honored to have the endorsement of Joe Negron in my effort to defeat Tim Mahoney,” said Tom Rooney. “For years Joe has been a great leader in our community and a tremendous advocate for the people of South Florida. I am looking forward to Joe’s counsel and support as we get closer to victory in August and November.”

Tom Rooney served as a Captain in the U.S. Army as a JAG Officer, taught Constitutional and Military Law at the United States Military Academy at West Point, was the CEO of Home Safe, a Palm Beach shelter for abused children, and is running for the 16th Congressional District of Florida. Tom Rooney Earns House Conservatives Fund Endorsement in Bid to Take Back FL-16

“…The energy, the passion and the commitment to bringing about
real reform instead of quietly supporting business as usual.”

WASHINGTON, DC – After months of review and consideration of all three Republican candidates, the House Conservatives Fund (HCF) today announced its endorsement of Tom Rooney in the race to challenge Tim Mahoney for Florida’s 16th Congressional District.

Despite the significant challenges presented in 2006, Republican candidate Joe Negron was able to garner 49 percent of the vote in this traditionally Republican district. Pundits consistently rate this as a toss-up race, and HCF believes that Tom Rooney’s military background and his real world experience make him the candidate best able to take back this seat.

“Tom Rooney understands the need to change the culture here in Washington,” said conservative Congressman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin. “He is exactly the kind of candidate that the House Conservatives Fund looks to support: someone with the energy, the passion and the commitment to bringing about real reform instead of quietly supporting business as usual. I am confident that Republicans will be able to reclaim this seat in November with a conservative like Tom Rooney as our nominee.”

Rooney’s calls for government reform, increased energy independence and decreased taxation resonate with the majority of voters in this district, who supported President Bush with 55% of the vote in 2004. Tom Rooney’s outsider perspective and his commitment to conservative principles are a clear contrast to Mahoney’s support of Nancy Pelosi’s liberal agenda (despite his claims to moderation on the campaign trail.)

The House Conservatives Fund is a non-connected federal PAC which supports Republican candidates and incumbents who demonstrate a commitment to economic and socially conservative issues. HCF advocates fiscal responsibility, limited government intrusion into the private sector, strong defense, and traditional family values.

Defending Our Troops

Many of you have probably seen the story in the news this week about the charges that were dismissed against Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani, who was accused in the 2005 Marine shootings in Haditha. Tom’s brother, former Marine Captain and Iraqi War vet Brian Rooney, represented Lt. Col. Chessani in his defense.

(Wellington, FL) – On Wednesday night at the Palms West Republican Club debate, Tom Rooney clearly demonstrated he is the right conservative choice for the people of the 16th Congressional District.

There was one decisive winner at tonight’s debate, and that was Tom Rooney,” said Palms West Republican Club Vice-President Robert Harvey. “Tom has dedicated his life to public service and tonight he demonstrated the leadership and ideas to lead us to victory over Tim Mahoney in November. Tom has clear-cut plans for reducing spending, lowering gas prices and protecting us from illegal alien felons. He is the leader we need and deserve.”

Tonight Tom Rooney proved he has the conservative principles to be a strong leader in Washington who will make a positive impact for families of the 16th District. From fighting wasteful spending to reducing the price of gas, Tom is the only candidate in the race with comprehensive plans to solve the important issues Floridians face today.
