Group applauds Rooney, scolds Mahoney in race for District 16

(Stuart, FL) GOP candidate Tom Rooney received the support of Vets for Freedom, an organization established by combat veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“Tom understands that the fight we are currently undertaking in Iraq is essential to our success in the global fight against Islamic extremism.” said Vets for Freedom Executive Director, Pete Hegseth. “The current Representative of Florida’s 16th District not only voted on multiple occasions to set a timetable for retreat from Iraq, but after visiting Iraq continued to deny the progress that the new strategy has made possible. Clearly he does not recognize the threats that our country faces – Tom Rooney is the answer to this inherent weakness in Congress, and I am proud to offer the support of Vets for Freedom.”

Continuing a long family tradition of military service, Tom Rooney proudly served his country as a Captain in the U.S. Army as a JAG Officer, and taught Military Law at the United States Military Academy at West Point.
